A Lifetime Of Social Service

Always looking for the higher purpose in all her assignments Dr Kiran Bedi involved herself in a lot of social initiatives through her policing.

It was way back in 1986 to deal with the rampant issue of drug abuse in the Yamuna Pushta slums she started the Navjyoti Delhi Police Foundation, later named Navjyoti India Foundation which even continues to reach out to the marginalized sections of society in the Delhi-NCR area living up their mission of leading people towards self-reliance.

Her work on prison reforms as IG Prisons in Tihar won her the Ramon Magsaysay award which she dedicated to setting up the India Vision Foundation in 1994. The Foundation continues to work in prisons across Delhi, UP, Haryana living up to their motto of, “save the next victim”

During covid times, a website Demonstrative Learning was launched as part of the Indian Vision Foundation. This website is an assembly of experience of Dr Kiran Bedi’s 50 years of work in Policing, Administration and Social Engineering. The aim of the website is to share with people good practices which worked and succeeded. The website has also evolved its own set of programs and today has something to offer for all age groups.
